Vallis Nature Talks

Lessons from the Soil with Alison Jenkins

Join us as we find out about how Alison has learned to work with the soil at Damson Farm £10

Alison will talk about her work at Damson Farm and how getting to know the soil as a complex ecosystem teaming with living organisms and symbiotic relationships has changed her working methods.  We’ll be discussing why it’s important to protect the soil with mulch, cover crops, green manure or even ‘weeds’, composting, ways of boosting microbial life, chopping and dropping and growing in hay. Damson Farm is a 2 acre regenerative small holding with an edible garden, naturalistic planting, meadow, orchard and ponds where Alison runs a year round programme of workshops.

This talk is part of a series at Vallis Farm that focus on wildlife, biodiversity, sustainability, climate change and regenerative farming as part of an ongoing project.

Attendees can arrive from 6.30pm at the farm and help themselves to refreshments before the event starts.

We can provide a limited number of free tickets for students or those with financial concern. Please email robyn@vallisfarm.co.uk to book on.

Any questions about the event or series please email robyn@vallisfarm.co.uk
