a place to grow

Where nature, creativity and
community come together.

Set in the Somerset countryside, near Frome, Vallis Farm offers space to step away from the rush of daily life and reconnect—with the land, with others, and with yourself.

Visitors are welcomed into our working market garden, where food is grown with care, biodiversity is nurtured, creativity is celebrated, and wellbeing is part of the everyday. You might share a meal made from seasonal produce grown on-site, learn a new skill with resident makers, volunteer with one of our wildlife projects, take a dip in our wild swimming pool, or simply enjoy the slower pace of life here.

We offer a curated programme of events throughout the year, along with a veg box subscription for those who want a regular taste of the farm. Our off-grid shepherd’s huts provide a peaceful stay in nature, and our Friends of Vallis  membership offers the opportunity to connect more regularly with the space and community.

All visits must be booked in advance, so take a look at our calendar to find the right experience for you.

A Place to Stay

Nestled in our Market Garden, our two off-grid shepherd’s huts offer a simple, peaceful stay surrounded by seasonal veg and birdsong. With shared kitchen and shower facilities, access to the wild swimming pond, and the chance to join farm events during your stay, our huts provide a refreshing rural retreat.

Become a Friend

Our Friends of Vallis membership gives you special access to the farm on Thursdays, a quieter day to explore the gardens, sip tea at our pop-up café, or read in a sunny spot. Members are the first to hear about our events, news and discounts, plus members have access to our wild swimming pond and soon-to-open sauna.

Veg Boxes

Our veg box subscription brings seasonal, chemical-free produce straight from our no-dig market garden to homes in Frome. Choose a small or medium box, weekly or fortnightly, packed with fresh veg, occasional preserves, and extras from other local growers who share our growing values.

Volunteer with us

We run regular volunteer days which focus on hands-on projects like tree planting, hedge maintenance and compost cake making. It’s a great way to get involved, meet others, and contribute to the land in a meaningful way.

We welcome volunteers to support wildlife and nature surveys, no experience needed, just curiosity and care. Children are welcome too, as long as they're accompanied by an adult—we love the energy our youngest nature enthusiasts bring!

We’re always looking for extra hands to help bring our seasonal festivals to life, from setting up to stewarding on the day.

Interested? Get in touch to join the volunteer list or find out when the next opportunity is happening.

Meet our Resident Makers

Vallis Farm is home to a growing community of craftspeople and artists. From long-time residents like Somerset Ceramics and Radix Herbalists to newer studio holders working in jewellery, leather, painting, cyanotype and sculpture, creativity runs through the place. During our seasonal festivals, makers open their doors, offering a chance to explore their studios, chat, and see their work up close.
